Navigating the expansive lake region in Chapter 4 of the Resident Evil 4 remake requires players to complete several key objectives to unlock the church door. One essential stop on this voyage is the Small Cave Shrine, which houses a locked stone door secured by a symbol-based pedestal. Solving this environmental puzzle allows Leon to claim the Blasphemer's Head key item necessary for main story progression.
Locating the Small Cave Shrine
The Small Cave Shrine is positioned in the far northeastern corner of the lake. Players can reach this location using the motorboat once they inspect the mural in the Mural Cave. Upon docking, you will enter a peaceful two-story structure free of hostile enemies.
Finding the Yellow Symbols in the Cave
To open the locked shrine door, you must identify three specific yellow symbols painted around the cave walls and structure. The first symbol rests clearly beside the ground-level ladder. The second symbol is split across multiple surfaces, requiring players to climb the ladder to align their field of view correctly. The final symbol sits near the upper doorway, visible when looking back toward the wooden walls.
Inputting the Correct Dial Combination
Once you have located all three painted clues, interact with the Stone Dais pedestal near the entrance. The required inputs correspond to the bottom-left button, the left button, and the bottom-right button. Order does not matter, as long as these three specific icons are activated on the device.
Claiming Your Rewards Inside
Unlocking the door grants immediate access to the shrine's interior room. Inside, Leon can retrieve the Blasphemer's Head, which is one of two key items required to obtain the Church Insignia. Players can also find Hexagon Piece C inside a nearby container, which helps solve the optional lake treasure puzzle.
